| Dean Meyers, 53, of
Gaithersburg, MD was killed at a gas station in Manassas, VA by the
Washington, DC-area sniper on the night of October 9, 2002. Dean
received the Purple Heart after suffering gunshot wounds while serving
with the First Cavalry in Vietnam. His wounds left him with his left
arm and hand disabled. At the time of his death, Dean worked as a Project Manager in the Manassas, VA office of a civil engineering firm. For more than twenty years, he sponsored children overseas through the World Vision humanitarian organization. Dean’s younger brother, Bob, lives in Perkiomenville, PA.
